I Used To Try

‘I Used To Try’ is the second single by Lancashire born and bred Nancy Elizabeth. The single precedes Nancy’s forthcoming debut album, Battle and Victory, which will be released on September 24. The single will be available as a download, and in a limited edition of 750 numbered 7” singles for the world.

With shimmering dulcimer and sparse, booming percussion, ‘I Used To Try’ is a forceful statement of independence. “I like my world/’cause it’s mine”: the song’s strident declarations are proudly unforgiving.

‘In The Morning’ (which is exclusive to this single) is more contemplative, just Nancy’s delicate piano and down-to-earth, unaffected vocals.

Nancy will embark on a full UK tour this autumn, following the release of the album. She is currently assembling a small touring group to augment her already much-loved acoustic ‘one-girl-band’ shows, which feature primarily acoustic guitar and Celtic harp. ‘I Used To Try’ follows the release of Nancy’s first single, ‘Hey Son’ (July 23), which is already picking up considerable support at radio.
